It’s no secret that there’s a lot of poorly-written PLR for sale. One of the reasons for this is because people think it’s easy to whip up a batch of articles on any topic, offer them for sale with private label rights and rake in the cash. It’s this type of poor-quality content that has a lot to do with giving PLR its bad reputation.

But these content creators are cashing in because creating and selling PLR content is a valuable and lucrative service. If you like to write and create content (or have the means to hire writers) this is a great business to get into. Good content writers and high-quality PLR content are always in demand.

So what makes a good content writer?

1. You must have excellent writing skills. A good knowledge of English vocabulary and grammar is also essential. The same goes for ANY language you are offering your writing services for. The goal is to write engaging content that attracts and holds the reader’s attention for the right reasons. Having to pay attention in order to decipher poor spelling grammar is NOT the right reason.

2. You must have excellent research skills. A good content writer needs to be able to jump from topic to topic as required. You never know what niches your customers will need content for. You (and your team) need to be able to do the research necessary to produce top quality content.

3. You must be able to write quickly. This is absolutely essential to your success. If it takes you all day to research and write one article, then you won’t be able to produce enough content fast enough to make it profitable.

4. You must be able to let go of your work. You might think I’m joking — I’m not. If your personality type is such that you have a hard time seeing others take credit for your work, then being a PLR creator is probably not the path you should take.

It takes a special combination of talent, skill, and personality to create high-quality PLR for sale. That’s why there’s so much poorly-written material out there, and why the best writers are in such high demand.

If you think you have what it takes, then go for it. And be sure to let me know when you do because I’m always in the market for good content. :)

Have a great day!
Thanks for being here!

Over the past few weeks as I’ve been telling you about high quality PLR resources I’ve mentioned PLR.me a time or two.

My friend, Ronnie Nijmeh, is the owner of that site and besides
providing the best self-help PLR content out there, he does monthly mastermind coaching teleseminars for members-only.

What I’ve got for you today is a free MP3 recording from one of his past members-only teleseminars.

It’s called: “PLR PROFITS” and you can grab it here.

If you’ve always wanted to use PLR (or want to explode your
traffic and sales with PLR), then you should listen in.

Here’s a sneak peek of what Ronnie covered in the MP3:

- What PLR is and why you need it
- How to use private label content for traffic generation,
loyalty building, and product creation
- Creative approaches to use and profit from PLR

You don’t need to opt-in to get the MP3, but there is an early bird signup form for the Abundance Stimulus Pack that Ronnie’s launching next week. If you do anything in the self help or make money niches at all, you should make sure you get on the list.

Have a great day!

It’s easier to collect PLR content than it is to put it all to good use. One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s very easy to let yourself get overwhelmed with PLR material, especially when you get a lot of it at once. I go through the “where do I start” syndrome at the beginning of every month when I get all the new content from my memberships.

That’s why it’s so important to have a plan and to know how and why you’re going to use something before you buy it. And once you have the plan in place, to take the actions necessary to get the results you want.

It’s a myth that PLR content can provide “instant” income. There is no such thing as instant income. There’s always at least ONE action that has to be taken in order to realize profits. Whether it’s sending an email, setting up a sales page, or buying a lottery ticket… you don’t get the cash without doing at least one thing. It’s a lesson that every internet marketer learns, some sooner and more easily than others. :)

I hope that if nothing else over the last 30 days you’ve developed a plan for your PLR and have taken action with at least one of the gifts. It’s been a blast posting them for you!

Thanks so much for being here,

Happy Good Energy Day!

It’s no secret that video is the latest big thing to catch the attention of the masses online. Many people would much rather consume their information in video format than sit down and read a 100-page report on a topic. Myself, I’d rather read than sit still long enough to watch a video, and I know I’m in the minority. That point gets driven home to me every day as I watch my 20-something son spending his spare time watching how-to videos and surfing YouTube.

So bearing that in mind, we all (me included) need to be thinking of ways to turn our PLR products into video content.

One easy way to turn written content into video content is to create power point presentations. (And that’s all I’m going to say about this because I’ve not tried it yet.)

Another way to create video content is to use software such as Camtasia to make screen-capture videos. These are really popular in the internet marketing niche because they allow your customers to “look over your shoulder” as you teach them.

A third way to create video content is through videocasts where you use a webcam or video camera to record yourself talking about your topic. You can also create live how-to videos by filming yourself (or someone else) actually doing what you write about.

You’ll notice that these ideas are lacking in the how-to details, and that’s because I’m just coming into an acceptance of using video. I’m a reader to the core, and have been dragging my heels on learning to use video content. I will tell you that I’ve made a goal for to create ten videos this month and post them on YouTube, so feel free to watch and have a laugh on two at my expense as I learn how to do this. :)

That’s all for me today. I’m off to download a trial version of Camtasia. See you on YouTube!

Have a great day!

Thanks for being here!

PS… What are your thoughts on using video. Do you like it or are you a reader? Leave a comment and let me know!

It was pointed out to me yesterday that I have neglected to mention one of the most popular ways of using PLR material — creating paid membership sites.

Paid membership sites are a wonderful way of putting PLR content to work for you. But, you need to do it up right and make sure you offer your members valuable information or they won’t renew their subscriptions every month. And you want to make sure they keep coming back month after month because the beauty of a membership site for you is in the recurring revenue stream it creates.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when using PLR content to keep your members informed and entertained:

Make sure you have good, updated content in a variety of formats. Articles, reports, photos, audios, and videos all have their place inside your members area. You will have a variety of people with a variety of learning preferences so the more formats you have of each piece of content, the more pleased your members will be.

Also, make sure that your content is as unique as you can possibly make it. Chances are you’re not the only one running a membership site in your niche and your members will probably belong to more than one site. The last thing you want to have happen is your members show up to download your fresh content only to find that it’s the same article they’ve already received somewhere else.

Next, use your PLR material to create articles and reports that your members can give away to their friends. Make them brandable and set up an affiliate program as well. Most people who are interested enough in a niche to join a membership site are also part of that niche’s larger community and love sharing information and resources about their hobbies and interests. Provide value inside your members area, and give them the materials and the incentive to talk about it, and you’ll find that most won’t hesitate to tell their friends about your site.

Finally, make sure you update regularly and often. There’s nothing worse than paying for a monthly membership and not receiving any new content for the whole month. Establish a schedule — whether you update daily, weekly, or even once a month — and stick to it! The easiest way to lose members is to have them keep coming back to an unchanged members area.

Using PLR content can help to ease the workload of creating fresh content on a regular basis. Because, let’s face it, running a membership site is a big commitment. There’s just no way to get around that. But they can create a lot of income for you when you do it right and take care of your members. They can also ruin your reputation if you don’t.

Have a great day!

Thanks for being here!

You’d never know it to look at this blog, but one of my favorite ways to relax is to play with graphics. I’m not good enough to make a business out of it, but it’s a fun way to spend a couple of hours of down time so I do still play with taking pictures and seeing what I can make out of them.

One of the things I’ve found useful in doing this is using wordpress themes that come with private label rights to create new themes. So I thought today I’d share three of my favorite ways to change and use wordpress themes.

1. First up, the easiest way to change a theme and make it niche-specific is to swap out the header graphic for a new one. You will most likely have to do some photoshopping of your new graphic to get it to fit the proper size, but that’s easy enough to do.

2. The second way to change up a blog theme is to change the fonts and colour scheme. If you’re familiar with how CSS works this is a piece of cake to do and will result in giving the theme a whole new look and feel.

3. If you’re good with PHP programming you can head into the guts of the theme and change things like the position of the sidebars, the size of the header, how the footers work, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Personally I know just enough about this aspect of theme building to be dangerous, so it’s with perfect 20/20 hindsight that I say hire a programmer who knows what they’re doing if you want to go this far! :)

In all seriousness, if you’re not a graphics/design person you can, and should, outsource all three of these tasks. Even if you are a sometimes, get-by, hobby type graphics person you should be outsourcing these type of tasks if your primary business is not graphics and design. (That whole “stick to what you’re good at” lesson is fresh in my mind today — can ya tell?)

So now that you have created all these new themes, what do you do with them?

Well, the easy answer is use them on your own sites. Or on sites that you build and flip.

The second thing you can do with them is give them away as traffic builders and list builders.

And third, you can actually sell them as niche themes. This can make a great add-on or upsell if you’re already creating and selling information products or other niche related resources to webmasters and internet marketers.

The trick to getting the most out of the PLR products you buy or receive through giveaways is to make use of every piece of content you get in as many different ways as you can. This means using the graphics and blog themes as well as the text-based content such as articles and reports that are included in your package. It may take a little more work than just rewriting an article or two, but the results are well worth it when you have something complete unique to offer your customers.

Have a great day!

Thanks for being here!

One of the best ways to recruit and keep affiliates is to make sure you have tools for them to use in getting sales. The more affiliate tools you can supply, the easier it will be for them to promote and sell your products.

Most product owners routinely supply a few graphics and banners that you can slap on your website and then wonder why their affiliates aren’t making many sales. By using PLR content you can create a whole tool chest for your affiliates and set yourself apart as a product owner who really knows how to take care of business.

Here are just a few examples of content you can create for your affiliates by using PLR material:

reports, checklists, and tip sheets that can be branded with their name and affiliate links to give away;

articles and blog posts that can be used as pre-selling content;

email messages that can be loaded into an autoresponder follow-up series;

short tweet-length posts for use on twitter and other micro-blogging platforms.

Giving your affiliates the tools they need to succeed shows them that you take their needs seriously and that you value their contributions to your business. Affiliate loyalty works a lot like customer loyalty — treat them like gold and they’re your biggest asset; fail to take care of them and they won’t even say goodbye when they move on.

Have a great weekend!

One thing successful internet marketers do that other less experienced and less successful people don’t is take care of their customers. They recognize the value of customer loyalty and take action to secure it.

Successful marketers have established back end systems in place to follow up with customers and present them with secondary offers. They also like to regularly surprise their customers AND prospects with freebies and gifts.

If you’re just getting started you may think you don’t have the budget to create products just to give them away. By using PLR content, you can easily create special reports, audio programs, or videos and give them away to your customers and subscribers for relatively low cost. This shows them that you appreciate their attention and their business, and helps to strengthen your relationship with them. (Not only that, but if your gift is a hit with your current customers, you can easily turn it into a product for sale to new customers in the future.)

You can also go one step further and use a program like Viral PDF to make your reports brandable. This lets your customers give them away to their customers and friends as well. As long as you ensure that your freebies are filled with valuable content, this will improve your image and really set you apart from the crowd.

Customer loyalty is an important part of doing business online, and it’s something that a lot of people still don’t take seriously enough. By creating valuable freebies and other gifts and offering them to your customers and subscribers you are giving them a great reason to stay loyal and keep coming back for what you have to offer.

Have a great day!
I finally had a chance to sit down and go through it, so today’s the day. :)

First let me say that I’ve been following John Thornhill since his early day’s as an Ebay Power Seller. I never really got into doing the Ebay thing so much because about the time I had made the decision to actively pursue selling ebooks on Ebay, they changed the rules and stopped allowing digital downloads. So while I’ve read John’s newsletter, this is the first time I’ve ever actually purchased one of his products.

So, diving right in…

Profit From PLR is a complete system that shows you step by step how to go from choosing a niche and collecting PLR material to setting up your product, sales pages, and sales system to finally getting traffic to your new website. Along the way, you’ll also discover common mistakes that a lot of PLR users make and how to avoid them, as well as tips on what to look for in a good PLR product and license, and where to find the best PLR products.

There are four main components to the product:

1. The PDF gives you an overview of what PLR is, common mistakes to avoid when using PLR, and an outline of how the Profit From PLR system works. It’s short — only 11 pages, but there’s a lot of info packed in there so do make sure to read it.

2. The audio is an interview with John Thornhill that basically covers and reiterates a lot of the same points made in the PDF. It’s a good interview, about 20 minutes in length and what really comes through is Thornhill’s passion for PLR products and teaching others how to get the most out of them.

3. The videos are the main course of the product. There are 31 how-to videos plus an introduction that take you step by step through the whole process. These are detailed screen capture videos that really do go in depth into explaining how to do everything from choosing your niche, sourcing your PLR, and making the required edits to setting up websites and getting traffic to them. And Thornhill doesn’t pull any punches. He tells it like it is, straight up and actually shows you the results of his work. He shares before an after copies of the ebook and the sales pages so that you can see exactly what kind of changes have been made.

4. The Action Checklist is my favorite part of the whole package. I love systems, especially well thought out ones that mean I can just run down the list and replicate the process for every PLR product I choose to rewrite. And there’s a corresponding video for each step on the list, so if I get stuck or need clarification somewhere along the line I can just watch the video, complete the task and move on.

Overall, this is an excellent package for someone wanting to really learn how to make use of and profit from PLR products. No product is perfect though, and this one does have a one major drawbacks for me. And that is it’s reliance on video to deliver the information.

While I know that video is the medium of choice for a lot of people, it’s not for me. I’m a reader and I find it really hard to sit still long enough to watch a whole series of videos. (Which is the main reason it took me so long to actually review the product.) It would’ve been nice to have transcripts that I could print out and follow along when going through the tasks instead of having to stop and go back to the video.

The other nit-picky thing I would say is that I would’ve liked to have seen a little more detail on the nuts and bolts of actually editing a PLR product. (But that’s my thing, so I’m always looking for more tricks there.) So if what you’re looking for is a detailed how-to on changing PLR, this is probably not the product for you.

If, however, you want a step-by-step replicable system for setting up a PLR product for sale from start to finish then Profit From PLR will interest you.

One source of PLR content that often gets relegated to the background is the sales pages that come with many PLR packages. The common thinking seems to be (and I used to be guilty of this too) that if you’re going to create a new product, then the existing sales material is pretty much useless.

In reality there are several things you can do with PLR sales material. And while it’s true that you should personalize the content to some extent, especially if you’re changing the product, you don’t have to do a complete rewrite like you would if you were using it for straight content.

The easiest way to personalize a sales page is to add your own bonuses and testimonials to the existing page. (Aside from just putting your name and “Buy Now” button on the page and selling the product unchanged, that is.)

Another way you can use PLR sales pages is to create your own swipe file for when you need to write your own copy.

A third way that you can use the sales copy is to create landing pages. Many high quality PLR packages now including a landing page (or squeeze page, if you prefer) but not all of them do. To create your own you can extract the relevant parts of the sales letter, add your opt-in form and a call to action, and use to build a list of prospects.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. Making use of all the material that comes in a PLR package is the best way to ensure you get your money’s worth out of your investment. Sales pages are a big part of the PLR puzzle and should be used to their fullest potential.

Dontcha think? (That’s a hint… comments are welcome! :))

Have a great day!
